DTL Licenses Key Cell Phone Patent to Nokia

General Patent Corporation acts as licensing agent

SUFFERN, NY, January 15, 2008 - General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, announced today a major licensing agreement between its client, Digital Technology Licensing LLC (DTL), and Nokia for a widely used and essential piece of patented cell phone technology.

The agreement with Nokia constitutes the first major licensing deal for DTL, which owns an essential patent for the cell phone technology.

"We are very pleased to have arranged this agreement on behalf of our client, DTL," said Alexander Poltorak, GPC's Chairman and CEO. "This license agreement is a resounding endorsement of our client's innovation and foresight."

The patented technology is essential to using Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) codec, an audio data compression algorithm used for speech coding that is widely employed in GSM standard for cell phone communications. The patented technology also provides backward compatibility, which allows cell phones to effectively communicate with older technology in existing cellular towers.

DTL is pursuing litigation with Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel and Motorola for infringement of the DTL patent, titled Digital Output Transducer. The licensing agreements reached with Nokia did not involve litigation.
